The Devil Mountain Double Century is a very difficult and scenic double century through the hills and mountains bordering Silicon Valley. The Devil Mountain Double (DMD) Century has been part of the California Triple Crown (CTC) series since 1997.
The ride starts early in the early morning hours in San Jose. Almost immediately the climbing begins with one of San Jose's most challenging climbs. Sierra Road is 3.7 miles long (to the summit) and rated a Category 2 climb with some segments reaching a grade of 15%.
After descending Sierra and Felter, you climb The Calaveras Wall and then enjoy the rolling hills around the Calaveras Reservoir and into Sunol. From there, take 84 to Palomares Rd. for a moderate climb along a scenic, tree-lined road.
Riders will continue northward to Danville to climb Mt. Diablo (*Highland only) with it's gorgeous vistas of nearly 4,000 ft. above sea level. The descent on the North side of Mt Diablo is some of the most fun you can have on a bike!
The course will then take riders to Concord, Clayton, Morgan Territory, Patterson Pass and onto Mines Road in Livermore. After that ride up San Antonio Valley and up Mt Hamilton "backside"
*Either the Highland course or the Lowland course will count toward CTC ride credit. Routes are tentative pending final permit approval from the counties. Feel free to upload routes to your navigation device with the caveat that road closures or weather conditions may force us to change the routes at the last minute.
